Whitby Captain Cook Festival – Friday 6 July to Sunday 8 July 2018

Whitby is set to welcome tall ships on the 250th anniversary of Captain Cooks first south seas expedition!

There’ll be more than enough on offer to entertain the whole family at Whitby Captain Cook Festival 2018, from 18th century cooking demonstrations to heritage plays, live musical entertainment (including sea shanties) and – perhaps most importantly – tall ships!

A celebration of the 250th Anniversary of Captain Cooks first expedition to the South Seas. A weekend of discovery and entertainment for the whole family.
Maritime adventurers can step back in time and climb aboard the Tall ship ‘Atyla’ to experience life at sea, retrace Captain Cooks voyages on board the replica HMS Endeavour and re live the Battle of Trafalgar on the smallest ship in Nelson’s fleet, the replica warship topsail schooner, HMS Pickle.

Step onto dry land and indulge your senses watching local chefs bring history to life, an 18th century twist on modern day cuisine in the live cooking theatre. Navigate and explore Whitby on the Cook ‘Selfie’ tour, enjoy live music, street theatre and sea shanties alongside local ales and a celebration firework display.
