Our Reviews

“We’ve been here 4 times in the last 2 years, and felt it was time for a review.

This place is just great. First the formalities – there is a well maintained and clean shower block, plus a couple of family shower rooms to make it easier for those with children or mobility issues. There is a communal kitchen area, with dishwashing facilities, a communal fridge and freezer, a kettle, a microwave, and a washing machine. There is an info hut with lots of leaflets, and info on local activities and walks. Unfortunately there is no shop on site, and the village has a butchers (which also sells bread and milk) so the closest shop is the Coop in nearby Staithes.

The staff are warm and welcoming and will escort you to your pitch. The site is well maintained and always looks clean and tidy. There is a mix of tents (electric and non-electric), tourers, a few statics, and a single camper spot. If you’re happy to pitch a tent non-electric there is often a space given the 2 fields available, however with only 5 electric hook-ups, an electric pitch is a real difficulty if you don’t book early. That said with the facilities available in the communal kitchen, it is easy enough to go non-electric.

The site is a quiet site, so if you want a peaceful relaxing stay this is the place. If you want loud music and drunken antics, you’re best off elsewhere.

Geographically this place is great for beaches and walkers. There’s Saltburn a short drive north, Staithes and Runswick Bay within walking distance (if you don’t mind the odd hill), and to the south there’s Sandsend, Whitby, RHB etc all within a short drive. Or there’s the Cleveland way for those wanting to take this gorgeous scenic hike.”

“A little gem! Sue was on hand to welcome us and show us to our pitch (hardstanding with hookup).

The site has a large kitchen / washing area and a communal sitting area with plenty of maps and leaflets showing the various walks on the doorstep. There were two showers and three toilets in the general shower block (female), plenty of hot water. Didn’t check out the gents or the family shower area.

The site is down a quiet lane and has a nightly owl visitor and other wonderful wild birds singing at dawn.

There is plenty to do here, and I will definitely be back!”

“Excellent gem of a campsite….. very accommodating and very friendly…… we were on pitch 21 grass electric pitch and with all the rain lately the ground was very soft….. they put down boards to drive up to pitch so we didn’t get stuck in boggy ground…. super helpful and friendly staff.. site close to cleveland way and we walked to Runswick Bay then onto Staithes. Excellent walk right on your doorstep. 2 Excellent pubs literally 2 mins walk from site
. Food outstanding at Badger Hound but would recommend booking a table to ensure you get in. Would 100% recommend the campsite. Just perfect 👌”

“A lovely dark skies camp/touring site. Very friendly staff, a zillion stars at night, fab sunset/rise and hens wandering about. Beautiful views. Good clean facilities and a great DVD library. Also has an honesty cafe with toaster, microwave etc.. I would avoid the grass pitches at the bottom of the field if it’s been raining heavily, as there is a risk of getting stuck in the mud! There are gravel and hardstanding available too. The staff would help out if this happened!”

“We have just returned from a 2 night stay. We have visited many campsites and this is one of the best. Everything very well maintained, toilets and shower block very clean and even had heating and music. Plenty of hot water which like most caravan sites have a push button that stops water wastage, could have done with the button staying in a little longer as it only gave you about 5 seconds before it goes off. Very friendly greeting by the staff. We stayed on a fully serviced pitch with an amazing view. There is a little nature walk with a duck pond which is lovely. Very quiet site with a pub right at the end of the entrance to the camp site. There is a little information hut with DVD’s that you can borrow and free wifi. We will be returning and will be staying for longer next time. Fantastic site well worth a visit. Looking forward to my next visit.”

“Lovely site and really well kept, the staff and wardens work hard to keep the place in top condition. Just returned from a lovely week at Serenity in the caravan, the facilities are very clean with plenty of toilets and showers for when it is busy. Good value for money and highly recommended.”

“Well if i could sum up the camp site in one word that would be FANTASTIC.
Very friendly staff clean facilities and the views and wildlife are to die for.
Not for anyone who does not like country sounds.
Area around like Runswick bay Staiths etc joyful
Our best campsite to date. Hard to beat.”
